In case you don't read descriptions, I've mentioned that I won't exactly be positing anything for awhile, if at all.

TLDR: Keep posting art on DA for your own passion, not to win popularity on internetz. Make good comments. Thanks for any an all comments and favorites, even if I don't individually say so.



DA has changed considerably in 10 years. When I first came onto this website with my dinky highschool drawings, I remember seeing only 2-4 Daily Deviations. I also remember looking at the front page and being fascinated with the art that was posted. Is it the biased of a childhood that made these look so nice? It's a possibility. I remember seeing oil paintings, poems galore, plenty of traditional media, awesome landscape photos and pictures of people from all ages.

Whatever the case, front page is now.... less than respectable for an -art- website. DA is slowly turning into a image dump, similiar to tumblr imgur, and reddit. Similiar. Every day I can bet that someone's pet is up there, sitting along side My little Pony, a naked chick or two, pokemon, anime and a vague quote on life lessons. There are also at least 10 DD's now, and half of them are.. okay? Cool they picked out some less than noticed people still(that's what I liked in part), but more are getting 2-3 DD's in the same gallery, repeats, or less than inspiring products of art showing up there. It is just me but I expect DD's to bring out those underground talents that could use some spotlight. Not people who have 10k page views in a month (or day for some people) because they knew how to draw Twilight on a cake..

Suppose that sounds like jealously, but I'm NOT into popularity. I'm more concerned that this website use to be for art showcasing. I was tempted for awhile to draw a single picture that hosted all of the above, just to see how many people jump on it. Could you just imagine a nake chick whispering into a little pony's ear "Life sucks", with pikachu on her back, two kittens in her lap, and miniature food earrings, all in an anime style? I'm sure the sarcasm would fly over people's heads...

So ... All I ask is that keep looking at good stuff and promote it if you can. All that internet fad stuff will come and go, you can find it in a dozen places. Make Deviantart DEVIANT.

While I may not draw so much, if at all anymore, I'll do it for myself. To let that little bit of my heart express itself, may even be shared on this website. I don't do it to see how many people I can get to look at it. I feel rewarded when I see comments pop up (It feels like I get 1 comment for every 50 or so favorites?) and while some have been short and sweet, they still mean something if it took that person the 1 minute of effort to post it.

btw. I hate that fearow picture I drew. I thought it looked 'alright' at the time, mostly for color and not detail. But I guess a lot of people like it. It's so... WONKY, the darn bird has no neck and it's feet are like two whales attached to a pigeon. I can't decided if I want to put effort into redoing it for a pokemon picture, or just delete it so I stop getting +favs on it. NEH.

For future reference: If you do comment (not just on my stuff, any piece of art or forum or whatnot!!!), make a comment that is unique to the picture, make it special. "That's a cute cat" can be pasted on a MILLION photos. Say something more intriguing like "I love how the light makes those green eyes come out, it makes it look like the cat's soul is filled with magic." Stay positive.

To make it simple, I just don't feel that doing ports is as worthwhile at this very space of time. With College and a job now I'm in a safer position to put these off.

However. This doesn't mean that I'm absolutely refusing to draw anymore. If you have an idea for me, let me know! (So long as it isn't a wolf. So tired of those at the moment.)

I really would like to do more mythical creatures, surreal sort of stuff. And start getting into humans and gesture drawing, to improve some (I know faces are going to look awkward).



Thanks for all the favorites, comments, and commissions up to this date. I know I haven't responded to every single one, but do note that I see them all and appreciate that attention.

Maybe I'll get back to you guys with another pokemon art? I did some stuff in minecraft, but a 2d drawing would be tight too.

But which one? So long as they aren't those generically round shape pokemon I'm up to it. (ie, no jigglypuffs or cleafairies.)

So, I didn't accomplish half my revolutions from last year, and in fact sunk a bit lower with plenty of potential ahead. I'm really in a happy state of mind despite this!However I'm in need of some cash to help me get through the next semester.

So...

Opening up some commissions, oh me oh my.

This will include mostly sketch work. I'm not strong in doing line work, so it'll likely be simple 5-10$ colored sketches of any choice. For some examples, visit my gallery as well as take a look at these sketch dumps: Unpolished work, Loose art, as well as scraped artwork.

I am willing to do website pictures for characters like Boon and Ocira for a negotiable price pending on complexity.

Furcadia portraits I did over 3 years ago. Both non-remap and remap ports will be 15$ (Price changed June 30th). If I make any premades they'll be 10$ just to get them off my hands.

Here's a few things to make my life easier:

1) I will not do animated portraits, if I do it will be a premade. They simply take too much time for me to learn/get around to working on.

2) An active email!
I love to communicate with customers as they are the best critics. I will first send a stream of ugly thumbnails like this to get an idea of pose/emotion/composition, so don't flinch yet!
After that I like to zip right into coloring and will likely do a simply base shading/outline markings before checking in. After that I'll provide a near finished product to see if any more changes need to be made. Having an active email is very useful for the process!

3) One of the most important objectives: Give me an idea of what you want!
A Visual reference of your character, or maybe even a written description of what they look like/like to do.
"Draw me a cat" is pretty darn vague.
"A fuzzy cat; like a Persian (or a Maine coon?) only 6 feet tall! With pink laser eyes" Is much more detailed!
4) I tend to receive payment when I hand over the final copy.
This keeps me motivated and if the customer changes their mind on payment I can hold onto the drawing indefinitely. I will do half and half or payment early if that's more convenient.


For the time being all of these transactions will be strictly digital medium and a paypal account.

Disclaimer: I'm not exercised well in drawing people. I LOVE doing birds/wolves/dogs followed by any random number of animals you have in mind. Anthros are a possibility. They are generally more animalistic in nature, so a human with cat ears would be more difficult for me to do over a cat with a human posture.

Last year has been a grand improvement over the year before. I'm drawing more actively and better, getting into college, taking my job seriously regardless of who or what is driving me insane, and have finally been given reason to draw people. However, the Year's end does not mean improvement does.

So this year I plan to:
Draw more people.
Bring Cela to life through any means possible.
Start doing art trades
Take an art class every semester
Work on a pet project*
Try new styles of art.
Design my own Magic the Gathering Card (No, I don't play the game but LOVE the art)
Get a car of my own through any means possible.
Achieve and hold 125 lbs.


* Pet project is that I have been sketching people while at school, but I'd love to finish and refine a sketch enough to add my own twist to it, sign it and leave it with the person drawn. It does seem stalkerish- yes, but these people will be picked on a whim and stalked for less then an hour; Shouldn't people feel great if they're being drawn? I've met sooo many people in the last with such tiny self esteem I think they could do with a little boost.
